If you’re like me, you probably have a pantry full of cans, pasta, random seasonings, and a freezer that’s become a bit of a mystery zone. This month, I’m joining the #pantrychallenge — and I’d love for you to jump in with me!
The idea is simple: instead of heading to the store for every meal, we’re going to get creative and cook with what we already have on hand. It’s a great way to clear out your pantry and freezer, reduce waste, and save serious money — without sacrificing good food.
Why June?
June is the perfect month to refresh your kitchen and reset your budget before summer gets into full swing. Think of it as spring cleaning for your grocery stash.
The Rules (or lack thereof)
This challenge is flexible, so don’t stress. Here’s what I’m sticking to:
- Take inventory of what I already have (hello, 4 bags of rice)
- Plan meals around pantry and freezer items
- Only shop for essentials like fresh produce or dairy (as needed)
- Keep it fun — try a new recipe or repurpose leftovers
What You’ll Save
By not doing my usual weekly grocery haul, I’m expecting to save anywhere from $100 to $300 this month. That’s money I can reroute toward bills, savings goals, or even a little summer treat.
Need ideas?
- Stir fry with frozen veggies and leftover rice
- Pasta with canned tomatoes, beans, and herbs
- Smoothies with frozen fruit and yogurt hiding in the back of the fridge
- Sheet pan meals with frozen proteins and root veggies
Let’s Do This Together
I’ll be posting updates, easy meal ideas, and budget wins all month. Use the hashtag #pantrychallenge on social media and tag me so we can swap ideas and cheer each other on.
Less waste. More savings. Great food. Let’s dig into our own kitchens and save a buck — or a few hundred — this June.
